A budget is a moral document. Do you want to make recommendations to Senator Diegnan on how tax dollars are collected and distributed. This page gives you the tools to do so for the FY2020 State Budget:
- Language Requests – A request to include specific bill or report language that does not direct funding to a particular entity but encourages or directs some type of action by an agency.
- Programmatic Requests – A request to fund a specific State program at a specified level.
All submissions must be sent by email to SenDiegnan@njleg.org with subject heading: #FY2020BudgetRequest by Friday, May 3, 2020 at 6:00 p.m.
If you have multiple requests please include all of the required information in your email.
As with previous years, earmarks or ‘christmas tree’ items have been banned, so only programmatic, bill, and report language requests are acceptable.
Here are some preliminary tips:
Consider an earmark or ‘christmas tree’ item as defined as–
a provision or report language included primarily at the request of an Assemblyman and/or Senator providing, authorizing or recommending a specific amount of discretionary budget authority, credit authority, or other spending authority for a contract, loan, loan guarantee, grant, loan authority, or other expenditure with or to an entity, or targeted to a specific county or municipality locality, other than through a statutory or administrative formula-driven or competitive award process.
You may use the New Jersey State FY2019 budget as a reference in preparing your submission(s).
It will help you easily find information regarding your state programs of interest.
Please direct any questions you may have to SenDiegnan@njleg.org.
